Like the Festival, the Ludwigsburg SCALA is enthusiastic about unforgettable cultural moments. In 2024, we therefore invite you together to the iconic rooms of the venue. During the current season, SCALA will be presenting three films that are connected to the festival program of the Festival.

»Human Requiem in Eleusis« (June 12)

Anyone who has seen the production of the popular Brahms Requiem in the Liederhalle in 2022 or would simply like to experience it again, now has the opportunity with a film by Stephan Talneau and Jochen Sandig. In the fall of 2023, the »Human Requiem« was performed in the ancient sanctuaries of Eleusis. In 2023, the city was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture. Participants include the Rundfunkchor Berlin under the direction of Gijs Leenaars, soprano Marlis Petersen, baritone Benjamin Appl, and dancers from Sasha Waltz & Guests.

The film will be followed by a discussion with Jochen Sandig.

»Fuoco Sacro – Suche nach dem heiligen Feuer des Gesangs« (26. June)

»Sometimes evenings at the opera are life-changing. Anyone who has seen Callas still talks about her today. still talk about her. They also exist in our time: singers who touch the viewer’s heart,« says the film description. And yes, even today there are singers whose expressiveness and skill take our breath away. Three of them, Asmik Grigorian, Ermonela Jaho, and Barbara Hannigan, are portrayed in in the documentary film by Jan Schmidt-Garre.

The film will be followed by a discussion with the director.
